What’s On My Needles This Week – 06/22/2026

colorwork skinny scarf

After finishing my gift knits for the coming Christmas, I decided to search my stash for some of my oldest yarns. I selected two very nice and easy to care for Summer yarns: Ice Yarns Lorena Colorful in purple, turquoise, gold, and light green, and Ice Yarns Adel in yellow.

cotton acrylic blend yarns, Ice Yarn Lorena Colorful and Adel

Both yarns were purchased several years ago, long before the current (and entirely unnecessary) tariff situation created by my government.

I’m making a thin neck scarf, for cool days. Something casual that can be worn with or without a jacket, with a button up or t-shirt.

I intend to repeat the yellow color-work pattern at the other end; hopefully, I’ll achieve the same distance from the end tip. I know I have enough yarn. Each colorway came in a pack of 8 balls. And I want t be able to wrap the scarf around my neck twice and tie the ends.

Stocking stitch is my least favorite stitch, because it rolls. But I created a 3-stitch selvage on each side and that, coupled with steam blocking, should fix the issue once the scarf is finished.
